Error 13.20 on HP LaserJet printers indicates a paper jam detected in the paper input area or tray. This is one of the most common printer errors and is almost always fixable in under 5 minutes.
Never pull jammed paper against the direction of travel. This tears the paper and leaves small fragments inside that cause repeat jams. Always pull paper in the direction it was feeding.
Open the rear access panel, the front cover, and remove the toner cartridge. Use a flashlight to inspect all paper paths. Check under the toner cartridge area carefully.
Remove the toner cartridge before attempting to remove jammed paper from the main body. This gives you better access and prevents toner spills.
Remove all paper trays completely. Check underneath each tray for crumpled paper. Even a small fragment left behind will trigger error 13.20 again.
The fuser is the most common location for stubborn jams. Open the rear door to access it. The fuser runs very hot during printing — allow it to cool before reaching inside.
Use paper that meets your printer specifications. Fan the paper stack before loading. Do not overfill the tray. Store paper in a dry environment — humid paper jams constantly.
